Using the web to own a damaged image.

I wonder if it’s possible. Over at WaPo, there’s a terrifying story about Sean Lanigan—a teacher & soccer coach in Fairax who was acquitted of molestation charges. The thing is that the accusation has been enough to ruin his life: whether it be the association/reputation damage, the legal fees, the time spent in jail, the way the school system has moved him around (geographically). It’s quite harrowing.

I wonder if the only thing one can do in a situation like that is use the web’s facilitation of publishing to own and tell the story. I’m sure it’s not the life he wants (per the story, it seems like all he wants to do is coach), but re-establishing his former life looks like an incredibly tall climb.
